Monterey, CA – Legendary basketball coach Phil Jackson once said that “the strength of the team is each member. The strength of each member is the team.” Perhaps no team personified that more at the Pirelli World Challenge championship weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca than S.A.C. Racing.
Race one in California saw success on multiple fronts for S.A.C. Racing’s group of drivers.
Dan Williams started race one on the front row, with Matt Fassnacht behind him in the second row.
Race two saw Anthony Geraci seal TC Rookie of the Year honors.
Entering their first year of PWC competition, the S.A.C. Racing squad captured the TCA class championship in dominant fashion with Elivan Goulart’s dual podium performances.

2016-10-18-sac-2“Everyone on this team worked so hard to achieve this,” said Goulart after race one, in which the championship was clinched. “Every guy and every driver pushes each other to be better. At the beginning of the season, we knew we were going to do well and what we achieved shows that.”
Fellow teammates reveled in the team’s success, knowing the entire team’s effort helped secure the
championship.
“Every single time we race, it pushes me to be better,” said Matt Fassnacht, who also won the TCA Rookie of the Year honors. “S.A.C. Racing is an amazing team. Here its all about detail and its all about preparation, and making sure that everything is right on these cars before they go out on track, and the results speak for themselves.”
Driver Dan Moen echoed Fassnacht’s sentiments about the level of competition at S.A.C. Racing.
“This team has a high standard of excellence and a long history,” said Moen after the final checkered flag of the year. “They’re working so hard to prepare everything and they’re giving you a vehicle that is a winning vehicle, so expectations are put on you and there are no excuses.”
Ademir Fedumenti, team owner and father to Elivan Goulart, says that watching the team get to this moment has been like a dream come true.
“To us, this is very rewarding being the first year in this series. We had five cars and they all performed well in both TC and TCA,” said Fedumenti. “The support from Mazda has been amazing. We did our due diligence with other series before making our decision and this proves that we made the right choice entering into Pirelli World Challenge.”
In addition to being proud as an owner, Fedumenti also had the pleasure of watching his son achieve his goals.
“I have been doing this for 51 years, starting with my father and then myself, and then Elivan and his brother, Chris, and now my grandson. From the first time I put him in a go-kart until today, he’s won five national championships. And, of course, the communication is very important. When you grow up with your kid in a race car and in racing karts, we know how to talk to each other and we understand what to do and what is right, so I am ecstatic.”
